In December I had the opportunity to try Blue Apron, which is a food company that delivers fun recipes and all the ingredients needed to cook them at home! Since I love to cook I was super excited to try it out, not knowing what the recipes would be like and how easy or hard they would be. I ended up with 2 boxes and a total of 6 recipes from Blue Apron and overall it was really great. The recipes were definitely harder than I expected, with a lot of food prep and multitasking while cooking. They were also more gourmet than meals I normally cook for myself, using ingredients I wouldn't think to buy so I loved exploring new things in the kitchen. I definitely won't do it all the time due to the cost ($60/box, which = 3 meals with 2 servings each) but since I can see the recipes each week I can pick a fun week once in awhile to try out. |
Just this past month I heard of another similar company and decided to try out Plated. It works pretty much the same way. A few things I do like better about Plated was the number of choices each week of meals and they have them online a few weeks in advance so that's nice to see for planning ahead. The week I signed up was a "game day food" theme for the Super Bowl so it wasn't as gourmet as my Blue Apron boxes but the meals were still super yummy. Lastly Plated is a little more costly and the meals range in price per plate but you can order as many recipes a week as you want, not just a one size fits all box. I can't wait to buy another box sometime soon!
