I already wrote up a post about my trip to Philadelphia for PePcon (the Print + ePublishing Conference) which was mostly just a touristy post on the food and fun stuff I did, you can read all about it here. So I wanted to also do one post about the conference, more specifically I wanted to show my sketchnotes! The conference was pretty good overall, I liked the mix of the workshops at the beginning and end along with all the presentations in the middle. It was also a good balance of shorter presentations demoing tips for Adobe programs and then longer presentations from really great speakers on anything from print design still being alive to where is the digital publishing world going. I could ramble on but instead I'm just going to post my sketchnotes that I took throughout the conference. Taking these notes made the whole conference seem a little more engaging for me plus it helped me remember the information better.
I recently traveled to Philadelphia for a design conference called PePcon, since I had never been to Philly before I did a little bit of sightseeing, even though the conference took up the majority of my time. It was also super cold/rainy for June which equaled me not wanted to walk around the city too much, but I did clock a few miles of walking around the city. A few months ago my younger brother Eric moved to Philly so I was also able to meet up with him and surprisingly meet up with my older brother Chris since he was in the area for work. I fit a lot in over the week there and it was a nice change of pace, plus getting to see family away from home is awesome. I will most likely do another separate post on my sketchnotes from the conference so this will be more of a touristy collection of photos! I have completed 120 STRAIGHT days of practicing hand lettering as of the end of May. That seems pretty crazy to me, I've never really done an ongoing challenge like this but now that I'm 4 months in I'm just going to keep on rolling with it. Especially since I'm still enjoying it a ton and trying new styles and tools which keeps it interesting. I hope you enjoy, let me know if you have a fave quote, style, or anything else you'd like to see me do!
I have been working a lot on my creativity by exploring hand lettering. So far I have completed two challenges and have done a sketch a day since February 1st. Here's a recap of March's challenge which was dubbed #MeetYourselfMarch by Made Vibrant. I tried to follow most of the prompts. Currently... wishing I was at the beach but I guess pools will have to do for now Currently... enjoying wineries and tacos and this guy, have already been to the Winery at Bull Run a few times this year Currently... taking advantage of the fresh produce at all the farmers markets around here (those cherries and cherry tomatoes were amazing!) Currently... finished my personal logo/mark and implemented it on my blog and website Currently... still obsessed with jeni's and love when there are new flavors, this one is one of my faves now (maybe jeni's will be a permanent part of my currently posts based on how much I love it) Currently... working in dc for a few weeks and really enjoying using public transportation and getting to see all the monuments daily So I've been a little inconsistent with posts lately because of lots of "excuses" but will try to get some new stuff up soon! I love having this little blog just to keep track of what's going on even when life gets a little hectic and changing is happening. Hopefully new stuff in the next few weeks! So I guess I can be pretty picky when it comes to picking out bigger purchases or hanging things in my apartment (even though a majority is IKEA stuff) but my table only has 2 chairs and one I regularly use for my computer desk. So I've been wanting some type of cool stools for quite awhile but back to being picky and not wanting to spend a lot of $$ has drawn out this process. I found some cute ones at various places like World Market, CB2, and other random stores but none felt totally right for one reason or another....however the other week I saw an Instagram photo of some stools at Target by Threshold and I loooved them so I searched online and couldn't find them so I ventured out to Target (never good for the wallet) and I found them! They only had 3, two with silver metal legs and one white so I walked around a bit (looked at some cheaper ones) and eventually went with my gut and got them! I knew I could return if they didn't "fit" in my apartment but they are perfect and ended up only being like $60 a piece so not bad at all for some nice stools that are functional, good design, and will last! I am so happy with my purchase and glad the search is over! I can also now have dinner for four people instead of two if anyone wants to come over for some yummy meals. Yikes! Where does the time go?! I'm not sure how it's already DECEMBER! I have so much to do in the next few weeks to get ready for Christmas. I need to do some shopping for gifts, make lots of yummy treats while still staying healthy, and also spend lots of time with family and friends! I have atleast started the decorating and have up my little tree and some trinkets in my apartment. I love this time of the year except for maybe the extreme cold and blizzards that come with winter... Well since I've been so bad at blogging the last few months, here's some photos of what I've been up to, enjoy! |
