a few faves: WORKOUT DVDS!
1. PiYo: My love of yoga resides in the studio, but I did take a break from my membership last year and really missed that type of workout so when PiYo was released around the same time I wanted to give it a shot, plus I had never really tried pilates and this was a combo of the two workouts. The program started off slow but picked up quickly with the tougher dvds. I ended up really liking this program and saw great results in my physique. I do these once in awhile but now I have my yoga membership back, so I will save these for rotation later on. 2. Jillian Michaels Body Revolution: This 3 phased 90 day workout program started my love obsession with at home workout programs. I did this a few years ago and it really kickstarted my healthier lifestyle and getting in shape. I loved the phased approach and could feel myself getting stronger with every video. I also did not get bored since the videos switched up every 2 weeks for strength and 4 weeks for the cardio. I haven't gone back to these as much recently but I definitely want to revisit them just to see how far I've come and go full circle. 3. P90X3: This is probably my favorite program and I blogged a lot about it so read all the details here: block one, block two, and block three. I also still do these workouts especially MMX which is my favorite single workout dvd of all time. 4. Jillian Michaels Body Shred: I just finished this workout program and it's actually the 2nd Jillian Michaels workout dvd set on my list which = I love Jillian's workouts! I've done a few of her other single ones but I like the programs she's created the most. This one was definitely a step up from the body revolution so I loved the extra challenges. It was also a slightly different format so it was a good change of pace. There's a final workout that's not part of the 90 day program which is insane however I have not gotten up the nerve to try it yet, maybe soon with lots of modifications since the moves are insane! I would recommend any of these programs, if you want more details check out some of my past blog posts on them or just ask me! Or we can even do some of the workouts together if anyone is ever in town or wants to stop by for a great workout without the gym!. I have not cooked as much in the kitchen the past few weeks, but trying to get back into the meal prepping habit and do more cooking so I wanted to share some of my recent eats, including one very delicious brunch out with some friends (pictured above an amazing egg, prosciutto, and risotto cake with tomato sauce from Ghibellina in DC). I also ordered another Blue Apron box, which I have mentioned before on the blog! I was hoping to use these meals as a jumping off point of getting back to experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. This box was so delicious, you can't really go wrong with burgers on pretzel buns plus I haven't had a salmon dish from them with unique flavors that I haven't liked. I'm definitely going to keep these boxes on rotation whenever I feel like I'm in a food slump!
This year Easter fell right around my birthday so I took that as a sign to take a few extra days off work and have a long extended weekend back in Ohio with the family, I was even lucky enough to drag Kyle along with me. I have to say I'm super blessed with an amazing family and love anytime I get to catch up with them and especially when we all get to be in one place together which doesn't happen as often now that we're all grown up living in different areas and some with growing families! Speaking of that I got to meet the newest Kimmet, little Samuel at a week old and he is just adorable! The weekend was a perfect mix of family, food, celebration, and relaxation. The weather could've been a little better but I think spring is finally trying to stick around. Here's everything we we crammed into the weekend: coloring eggs with the twins, making ice cream, baking & cooking for all the parties, Good Friday mass, Sonny Jacks for a birthday drink, Easter in Cleveland with Jolly's, easter egg hunt, sunrise Easter mass, Kimmet Easter at the parents, and checked out the progress on the Clouse House! I have been working a lot on my creativity by exploring hand lettering. So far I have completed two challenges and have done a sketch a day since February 1st. Here's a recap of March's challenge which was dubbed #MeetYourselfMarch by Made Vibrant. I tried to follow most of the prompts. |
