Like I mentioned in an earlier post this green grocer box has gotten me to try new things that I normally wouldn’t....especially a GREEN smoothie with veggies in it! But they seem to be a very popular item right now so I jumped on board. I used only ingredients I got in my box - spinach, bananas, pears, and kiwi and blended it up with just water and ice. It was SUPER green and SUPER delicious!!! I couldn’t even taste the spinach and even added more to make it healthier. Sorry I don’t have the exact recipe I just through together whatever I had and have since made a few others with varying ingredients and they have all turned out awesome. This will definitely be a new staple in my eating habits, especially when I have a lot of fruits left that I need to use up.

My Easter was a little bit different this year....instead of heading to Ohio and celebrating with family I was actually in San Francisco. I ended up there for a conference called TYPO which had to do with all things graphic design and was awesome. Since I lived there a few years ago it was great heading back to see my old stomping ground and it surprisingly felt like I never left, I didn’t even need a map to know where anything was! My favorite part of course was the OCEAN I love love love the ocean and for some reason I loooove the pacific better than the atlantic. So I definitely spent a lot of my free time heading to the pier (not fisherman’s wharf since I did all the touristy things years ago) and also I hung out at Ocean Beach too. Since San Francisco is so awesome I couldn’t fit it into one post so there will be more coming soon and they will of course be about the only thing I haven’t talked about yet.....FOOOOOD!
I recently heard about DC Green Grocer from a friend. It’s sort of like a CSA but more flexibility, once you sign up you can decide what weeks you want fresh produce and whether you want fruits or veggies or organic, it’s pretty awesome and definitely helping me eat more produce and try new things! The small box of mixed produce is what I’ve been ordering and it’s HUGE and lasts me 2 weeks! I loooove it, here are some photos of the first box I got, I’ll show some recipes I’ve made from it later on.
At the end of March/beginning of April I has some awesome visitors in DC including my parents and my brother Chris with his wife Sonya. We had a ton of fun exploring parts of DC - the mall and museums, Arlington, and finding lots of great places to eat. As an added bonus it was also right before mine and Sonya’s birthday and Easter so we got to do a lot of celebrating, especially since I did not make it to Ohio for Easter this year (due to a west coast trip, details in another post!). I loooooved having visitors and we definitely packed a lot in one weekend, can’t wait for whoever visits next! Since I just moved to Arlington there are a ton of new things to do.
So I’ve been pretty behind on my blogging and I want to try to catch up, I’m going to start with the DC Cherry Blossoms. These flowers are a huge attraction here in DC and I’ve been wanting to see them, the 1st year I lived here it was too cold and crappy out so by the time I made it to the tidal basin they were gone. This year the peak was super early due to the crazy warm weather and the only time I had to see them was on a Friday night. Due to working hours and other things I didn’t make it down until dark so I saw them and they were pretty but definitely not the full effect and the next day it stormed and the peak was over. So needless to say after two years of trying I still haven’t seen the real beauty yet...maybe next year I will be successful? But I did get a few pretty night photos with my awesome iphone!
