It was definitely a learning experience and didn't turn out perfect but now I know I have tons of room for improvement. I haven't decided what to do next but I'm ready for another project (I think I'm hooked!). Enjoy the photos of my 1st attempt!
I've always thought how cool it is to be able to sew and make fun things and I've always loved watching Project Runway, yet I've never attempted much except for I think curtains and a pillow in my younger days. So getting a sewing machine has been on my list for a little while now and lucky me I got a brand new (to me at least) Bernina Bernette 66 model from my parents for my birthday! So I ran off to Jo Ann Fabrics and bought a slew of supplies (still not all the way completed) but enough essentials to attempt to sew. All of my sisters enjoy sewing so I borrowed a book and decided to sew an "All-you-need sewing kit" because that made perfect sense to have and use to store all of my new supplies! It was definitely a learning experience and didn't turn out perfect but now I know I have tons of room for improvement. I haven't decided what to do next but I'm ready for another project (I think I'm hooked!). Enjoy the photos of my 1st attempt!

I visited my cool friend Katie this past weekend in Baltimore and she took us shopping in Hampden which is this really fun area with antique and thrifty stores plus TROHV! (formerly known as Red Tree) It's like an Urban Outfitters/Anthro mix of home goods and fun unique gifts. I ended up buying three really fun books and they also happen to be somewhat practical which is an added bonus! Even better is the fact that Trohv just opened another location in DC, I've been trying to curb my impulse purchases but this just makes it even harder. FYI according to the shops website Trohv stands for a collection of artful objects discovered or found.
