This year Easter fell right around my birthday so I took that as a sign to take a few extra days off work and have a long extended weekend back in Ohio with the family, I was even lucky enough to drag Kyle along with me. I have to say I'm super blessed with an amazing family and love anytime I get to catch up with them and especially when we all get to be in one place together which doesn't happen as often now that we're all grown up living in different areas and some with growing families! Speaking of that I got to meet the newest Kimmet, little Samuel at a week old and he is just adorable! The weekend was a perfect mix of family, food, celebration, and relaxation. The weather could've been a little better but I think spring is finally trying to stick around. Here's everything we we crammed into the weekend: coloring eggs with the twins, making ice cream, baking & cooking for all the parties, Good Friday mass, Sonny Jacks for a birthday drink, Easter in Cleveland with Jolly's, easter egg hunt, sunrise Easter mass, Kimmet Easter at the parents, and checked out the progress on the Clouse House!

So I realized I never actually published this post, but since there is still a little snow left outside I guess I will publish it now. Here is a recap of the holidays in photos. I had a great time with my family and friends, but it always goes by way to fast! However I am definitely ready for the winter to be over and spring to arrive. With the sun out and shining today and temps finally above freezing I feel like we might be out of the woods soon!
Summer has flown by like normal, can't believe it's already labor day, so here's a few snapshots of my summer! I can't believe the holidays have already come and gone! Wow time really does fly but I had lots of fun spending time with family and friends over the last month and a half. The holidays were a little different for me this year but still so good, I also overindulged A LOT but totally worth it! I'm getting back to the health kick now but more on that later... This year (well last year now since I'm a little late on this post) I spent Thanksgiving in Virginia since I had to work a little that week, but I did get to spend with Kyle's family and made my Grandma Metzger's famous noodles to make it feel more like home! It was really good and I had all the yummy foods that go along with that day, but the company was even better than the food, I am lucky that I was able to have someone else's family here in VA to spend the holiday with! I was also able to do some baking with Kyle in preparation for Christmas. We made buckeyes, chocolate covered cherries, and gingerbread men, along with some eggnog cocktails! Sooooo good and was my first taste of eggnog and I have to say I'm hooked for sure. For Christmas I celebrated with Kyle the week before and then headed back to NR for the week of and spent a lot of time with the family and catching up with friends. It was so much fun watching the twins dig into presents this year, they loved opening gifts and helped out everyone, especially opening Eric's presents hehe! And I know Henry is not far behind, next year will be even more fun with all 3 of them older! I hope everyone else had an amazing holiday season and enjoy the photos! Yikes! Where does the time go?! I'm not sure how it's already DECEMBER! I have so much to do in the next few weeks to get ready for Christmas. I need to do some shopping for gifts, make lots of yummy treats while still staying healthy, and also spend lots of time with family and friends! I have atleast started the decorating and have up my little tree and some trinkets in my apartment. I love this time of the year except for maybe the extreme cold and blizzards that come with winter... Well since I've been so bad at blogging the last few months, here's some photos of what I've been up to, enjoy! My mom, Danielle, Brittany, and I decided we needed a girls weekend so they all came out to VA to visit me and have some fun! (Partially I think they might've been jealous of recent food pictures from restaurants I've been too....) We wanted a somewhat planned but also relaxed and not packed weekend. We ended up pretty busy the whole time but it was a fun mix of everything. Here's a list of what all we did: -ate at Green Pig Bistro in Clarendon -spinning class at Revolve in Clarendon, was my mom's first spinning experience -had lunch at Protein Bar -went to three wineries out in Hume, VA -ordered yummy carryout pizza and played cards at my place on the floor....I still only have 2 chairs in my apartment whoops! -went to a yoga class at Tranquil Space Arlington -had lunch at Bayou Bakery and the boys met up with us there -walked from Rosslyn to Georgetown and walked around -ate cupcakes from Baked and Wired -had our last dinner at Farmers, Fishers, and Bakers in Georgetown -went to Buzz Bakery for breakfast before they hit the road back to Ohio So definitely a lot packed in and some awesome memories, we are hoping to do something like this every year but not sure where we'll pick to go next! I headed back to Ohio for a little mini vacation in July. I had fun events going on two weekends in a row and it made sense to stay there the whole time instead of trekking back and forth from VA to OH twice. It started with a fun girls night in Columbus before the Color Run on Saturday morning with the sisters, mom, and friends! It was a lot of fun and we got covered with color (which took a little while to get off....) but so glad I got to experience it! My trip also fit perfect with a Christmas in July party at Ashley and Cole's which was great. I got to catch up with some friends. After the weekend in Columbus I headed to the parents and spent the week there and had a lot of fun time with the twins. I helped babysit and went to the fair with them which was a lot of fun. It was entertaining seeing their interaction with the animals! The end of the week I headed back to Columbus to get Kyle from the airport and hung out with Brittany and Dustin before our cousin's wedding on Friday and then reunion on Saturday. The parents house was definitely full that weekend with everyone in town for the wedding and it was a lot of fun being around the whole family. The wedding was also great with good food, dessert, and a lot of dancing! That was the end of my mini OH vacay, it was a good mix of planned stuff and just R&R plus catching up with the family and some friends! Below are a few photos of the adventures I got into, enjoy! |
